Dacula Memorial Day Parade Info
We are excited to be participating in this years annual Dacula Memorial Day Parade. The Dacula Memorial Day parade has been a proud tradition in Dacula since 1994. The parade has grown over the years and remains the only Memorial Day parade in Metro Atlanta, largest in the state of Georgia and one of the largest in our nation with more than 150 units participating in the parade each year!
The parade begins at Hebron Baptist Church and proceeds down Dacula Road, turns right on Second Ave, crosses Broad Street and ends at Dacula High School.
Families begin to line the street hours before the parade begins. There are 10,000+ spectators lining the parade route when the parade steps off at 10:00 am.
Below is the information for GDU dancers…Please read through it carefully
*Parade is on Memorial Day Monday May 26th at 10:00am
*All GDU dancers at any of our locations are invited to participate in the parade.
*Parents need to drop off their dancer between 8:30 and 9:00am in the Hebron Church Parking Lot.
*Younger girls will ride in the trailer and older girls will walk the route.
*Dancers should wear a dance costume, dance outfit or red white and blue attire. We will have flags for the dancers to wave and red white and blue leis for everyone to wear as well.
*We are allowed to pass out candy along the route, each dancer is responsible for bringing their own candy to pass out.
*It will be hot, please bring water for your dancer and put sunscreen on them as well.
*Unlike the Christmas parade we are not requiring that all of the parents walk in the parade since we will have a trailer for the younger dancers to ride on. We will need some parents to volunteer to walk along the trailer with the older kids. If you would like to volunteer you can add that to the sign up sheet. Parents will need to wear GDU shirts or red, white and blue. We will have 1-2 nurses traveling along the parade route with us and will also get parents contact info in case we need to contact you during the parade.
*CONTEST:
The dancer that comes dressed in the most patriotic outfit will receive $25 off GDU tuition, summer camp etc.
